More information: In honor of "Be Kind to Animals Week " the C.A.R.E. No-Kill Animal Shelter is hosting a week of pet friendly events for the community.
Schedule of Events:
CARE TO SPAY?
During "Be Kind to Animals Week", C.A.R.E. will be implementing our new low cost spay/neuter program - CARE TO SPAY? This program is designed for people who cannot afford the usual fees of a spay or neuter. This program is also designed to help reduce pet over-population and animal kill-rates by providing access to low-cost spay and neuter programs to individuals who have previously surrendered a litter of unwanted puppies or kittens to a shelter.
For a $35 donation, eligible applicants may receive a certificate to have their pet altered at any participating area veterinary clinic. As well, the CARE TO SPAY? program may assist those who cannot afford the $35 donation by providing a spay/neuter certificate at no expense to the recipient. These "free" certificates may be issued on a case by case basis. CARE TO SPAY? certificates will be available at all local "Be Kind to Animals Week" events.

C.A.R.E. encourages local business to get into the spirit of "Be Kind to Animals Week" by allowing employees to show off their best friends (all day, half a day or for a few hours). For work places strictly prohibiting pets the employer may consider a pet photo or story contest in honor of the week.
* We ask that all employees gain permission from supervisors and fellow employees (please be considerate of allergies or phobias) as well as check company policy before bringing pets to work. We also ask that employees bring only well behaved, social and non-aggressive pets to work, keeping them leashed or in a safe pet carrier at all times.
