C.A.R.E. Pet Services Center

Our innovative vision for the future.

DID YOU KNOW:

  • Three out of four people say it should be illegal to kill animals if the animals are healthy or treatable (No Kill Advocacy Center)

  • 96% of Americans say we have a moral duty to protect animals and should have strong laws to do so (No Kill Advocacy Center)

...BUT, DID YOU ALSO KNOW:

  • Approximately 6.3 million companion animals enter shelters nationwide annually (ASPCA)

  • 1.5 million (1 in 4) don’t make it out alive, approximately 670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats (ASPCA)

  • At least 1,376 animals were euthanized in 2017 in Greene County alone; that number would be much higher without the work of C.A.R.E. and other area no-kill shelters

Pet overpopulation and the euthanasia rate are a HUGE problems. What's more, the nation's views on how homeless animals should be treated clearly does not match what is actually happening.

C.A.R.E. has developed a solution for southwest Missouri to attack the problem directly at its source - The C.A.R.E. Pet Services Center. The Center will provide affordable services to low-income families and seniors. The goal of the Pet Services Center will be to reduce owner surrenders, decreasing the number of animals on the streets and abandoned in shelters, keeping them in loving homes and ultimately reducing the euthanasia rate.

LEARN MORE ABOUT THE PET SERVICES CENTER by watching KSPR's Leigh's Lost and Found Report, where Leigh Moody interviews C.A.R.E.'s Director, Melissa Sartin, about her vision for the future

Pet Services Center services and programs will include, but are not limited to...

  • Welcome Center

  • Pet Adoptions

  • K-9 Training, Behavioral Consultation, and Humane Education

  • Grooming

  • Full-service Wellness Center

    • Spay/Neuter Assistance

  • Compassionate Learning Center

  • Rescue and Rehabilitation

  • Food Pantry and Cooperative

  • Lost and Found Services

“Without stepping in front of the problem, we're always going to be playing catch-up with the number of animals that are sitting on death row, surrendered, or end up on the street.”

Melissa Sartin - C.A.R.E. Founder/Executive Director

Donate to help make the Pet Services Center a reality.

Lets start here...we own the building that will one day be the C.A.R.E. Pet Services Center. It's the perfect size and location in southwest Springfield, but it is currently laid out as an office building. We have extensive renovations ahead of us before the building will be what we need it to be, and those renovations will not be inexpensive. By our architect's estimates, we're looking at a $1,000,000 project...and that is just for the building, not including the necessary equipment.

This is no easy task, but we are up for the challenge! We are one step closer due to the generosity of an anonymous donor, who has made a pledge to match ALL donations received for the Pet Services Center up to $500,000! That's right, every donation is automatically doubled! $1 becomes $2, $500,000 becomes $1,000,000.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we're relying on the generosity of southwest Missouri and our supporters to make the C.A.R.E. Pet Services Center possible. No donation is too big or too small. Remember that your donation is tax-deductible and will be doubled, making twice the impact. Click the button below if you'd like to make a one-time contribution or set up a recurring donation to the Pet Services Center and see the progress that we've made in our fundraising efforts. Thank you so much for your support!

What else can I do?

  • Spread the word: Educate your friends, family, acquaintances, Linda from HR, Toby from across the street, or ANYBODY else about the pet overpopulation and euthanasia crisis. Tell them about the plans for the Pet Services Center and what they can do to help!

  • Support the Red CAREpet Gala: The Red CAREpet Gala is C.A.R.E.'s annual banquet event held in April. All funds raised at the Gala go to the Pet Services Center, and there are many ways to help! Show your business/organization's commitment to southwest Missouri's pets and pet parents through a promotional sponsorship. Donate services or silent/live auction items. Contact us to ask what supplies we are in need of. ATTEND! Come out and have a fantastic evening, full of food, drinks, live music and entertainment, silent/live auctions, and great company. Visit our Red CAREpet Gala webpage for full details and information on purchasing tickets or tables.

  • Give office supplies: We need office supplies! Whether it be pens, paper, staplers, tape dispensers, food for our food pantry program, etc. We need to have a fully-functioning building before we open to the public. Contact us if you'd like to discuss our needs or if you'd like to make a directed financial donation for a specific supply purchase. Donations can be dropped off at the Adoption Center at 1328 W Sunshine St, Springfield, MO 65807, but be sure to specify it is for the Pet Services Center!

  • Volunteer: Become a C.A.R.E. volunteer to help with our Pet Services Center fundraising initiatives. Volunteer your time at events such as the Red CAREpet Gala, lend your special skills or talents to our cause, or raise funds on your own to donate to the Pet Services Center. Visit our volunteer webpages to learn more about C.A.R.E.'s volunteer opportunities and how to become a volunteer.
